Privacy Policy
This website is operated by Eastbourne Garden Lighting Co. ("we", "us", the "Website Operator"). The garden and outdoor lighting design and installation services promoted on this site are delivered by a separate business, Eastbourne Garden Lighting Co. (the "Operating Partner"), under its own contract with you. This policy explains what each of us does with your information.
1. Who we are
Website Operator: Eastbourne Garden Lighting Co.. Contact: hello@eastbournegardenlighting.co.uk.
Operating Partner (services provider): Eastbourne Garden Lighting Co.. Contact: hello@eastbournegardenlighting.co.uk.
2. What we collect
When you use the enquiry form or contact us via this website, we collect:
- Your name.
- Your phone number and email address.
- Your postcode and — if you share it — the address of the property.
- The message you send and the budget band you select.
Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention.
3. Why we collect it and our lawful basis
We collect this information at your request so we can respond to your enquiry and put you in contact with the Operating Partner for a quote. Our lawful basis is steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the business. We do not use your information for marketing and we do not sell it.
4. How your enquiry is handled (the handover)
Enquiries submitted through this site are received by Eastbourne Garden Lighting Co. and forwarded promptly — normally within one working day — to Eastbourne Garden Lighting Co.. From the point the enquiry is forwarded, the Operating Partner is the data controller for the quote, site visit, contract and any installation records. Each party is responsible under UK GDPR for its own handling of your data.
5. How long we keep it
- Eastbourne Garden Lighting Co. keeps forwarded enquiries for up to 24 months, then deletes them. Enquiries that don't lead to a quote are deleted sooner where possible.
- Eastbourne Garden Lighting Co. retains project records — quotes, invoices, electrical certification — for up to 6 years from the end of the tax year, as required by UK tax law, and in line with BS 7671 record-keeping guidance for 240V works.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data or share it for marketing. To run the website and forward your enquiry we use a small number of third-party processors — website hosting, email delivery, and form handling. The Operating Partner uses its own processors for accounting, quoting and, where applicable, subcontracted installation labour. A current list is available on request from either party.
7. Cookies & tracking
This site uses only strictly-necessary cookies. We do not currently use analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking. If that changes, this page will be updated and, where required, you'll be asked for consent.
8. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information is held about you.
- Ask for it to be corrected or deleted (subject to legal retention obligations).
- Object to processing, or ask for it to be restricted.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
For anything about the website itself or the enquiry you submitted, email hello@eastbournegardenlighting.co.uk. For anything about a quote, site visit or completed installation, email hello@eastbournegardenlighting.co.uk. Either party will respond within one month.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will always reflect the most recent version.
